Australian Superannuation Transfers to New Zealand
From October 2009 it will be possible to transfer Australian Superannuation saved since 1992 to New Zealand Superannuation schemes.
A new agreement between Australian and New Zealand Governments comes into force October 2009. The details of this agreement are still being finalised but this is a major step forward for New Zealanders with Australian Superannuation left behind in Australia. Where New Zealand owners of 'lost accounts' in Australia can be identified, the money will be able to be transferred into a KiwiSaver account.Move My Pension will advise you of your options regarding your Australian Superannuation (provided you are a resident in New Zealand).
As at February 2011 the rules that apply to these transfers are still being written.
